Introduction to Weaving

Aimed at complete beginners, this relaxed workshop is an introduction to the world of weaving. Working with simple table-top frame looms you’ll learn how to:
  • Set up warp threads
  • Use shuttles and needles to make a weft
  • Create a simple weave and learn how to remove it from the frame
  • Try out more advance stitches including as Rya Knots, Soumak, Looping and Fringing
During the day you’ll make a weaving sampler to take home and display as a wall hanging or mat.
There will be a range of wools and textiles available for you to use, but you can bring along some your own materials if you would like to include them. Weaving is a great way to use up wool left over from knitting and crochet projects. Looms are provided and will be available to buy at the end of the day for under £20 if you get the weaving bug!
The fee of £60 includes all materials and refreshments, but please bring your own packed lunch.
